My name is Paul Van Velzen, and I am excited to share my story with you. As an Environmental Manager, I grew up in the beautiful surroundings of Mt. Robson Provincial Park, which instilled in me a deep appreciation for the natural world.
I have always been passionate about exploring the outdoors and honed my skills in trials mountain biking while exploring the vast, breathtaking wilderness of Valemount, also known as The Valley in the Mountains. After graduating from Valemount Secondary, I pursued a degree in Environmental Sciences in Cranbrook and Kamloops, BC, to further my understanding of the complex interplay between human activity and the environment.
Upon graduation, I joined the environmental consulting industry and eventually specialized in environmental impact assessment. However, my heart always longed to return home, and I relocated to Kamloops with my family to continue my career journey.
In 2019, I was presented with a unique opportunity to join SRLLP as an Environment Manager, and it has been the most rewarding experience of my career so far. Collaborating with the Simpcw First Nation community on various projects in their expansive Territory has been a true privilege, and I have had the pleasure of working alongside numerous talented individuals in the process. I am passionate about the environment and committed to working towards sustainable practices. The future looks bright for Simpcw, and I remain dedicated to my love for mountain biking, which I continue to enjoy in my spare time. Thank you for taking the time to read my story. Above is a photo of me on site in Clearwater, BC.
